Who We Are
About Butterfly Meadow Preschool
My name is Marcella and I am the Director/Owner of Butterfly Meadow. My journey and my love for education started as a little 5 year old girl with big dreams. As a child, I spent most of my days ‘playing teacher.’ I would create a classroom with my stuffed animals and my chalkboard. As I grew up, I wanted to acquire more experience and knowledge with children of different age levels, so I worked at camps and tutored children. Upon graduating High school, I earned three degrees in teaching.
At Nassau Community College, I earned an Early Childhood Education Degree: Summa Cum Laude. Then, I continued my education at Molloy College to achieve a Bachelor of Arts in Education: Summa Cum Laude.
Now, I was ready to gain professional experience as a full~time teacher. As I was a full~time teacher, I returned to Molloy College and earned a Masters in Science in Learning Disabilities: Summa Cum Laude. As I was developing as an educator, it was important for me to understand all students and their diverse abilities. For the next 8 years, I developed a solid understanding of students and their growth and development. As my personal life flourished, I took a temporary sabbatical to raise my 2 children. Upon returning to the education field, I worked at a preschool in the Levittown area which led to a promotion to Director. I was Director until I decided to open Butterfly Meadow.
All the professional experience I acquired over the past 20 years is the foundation of Butterfly Meadow. A foundation that encompasses Butterfly Meadow to provide quality and affordable education in small classroom size settings. At Butterfly Meadow, our mission is to provide all students with the opportunity to thrive and be successful. Small classroom size settings create a strong solid foundation for students, so that when they transition to a larger class size setting, they are prepared, capable, confident and they have developed a solid foundation as life~long learners.
We pride ourselves at Butterfly Meadow on focusing on the process of learning, so that students can develop a good sense of self and grow socially, physically, intellectually, creatively, and emotionally as unique individuals. At Butterfly Meadow, we are not just an educational facility for students. We are family.
